This Sony DVD Recorder has no TV tuner. It is designed to record directly off the output from your Cable-TV or Satellite-TV receiver. It can also be used to dub recordings from other components onto various DVD recordable disc formats. It is not ready for HDTV as this DVD recorder and player records and plays in 480i and 480p modes.
